The solar plants will be set up with capacities ranging from 500 KW to 2 MW depending upon teh size of the land. 

Panaji: Goa is all set to become the first state in India to launch a green energy project to power rural households and agriculture in the state.  

On Tuesday, the Goa government and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to start the affordable green energy project. EESL is a joint venture of the various public sector undertakings under the ministry of power.

Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for power and new renewable energy, RK Singh, said the project will boost the usage of renewable energy in the country. He said the signing of MoU will give rise to a new green revolution in the energy sector, according to a report in Times of India.  

"Goa has set the target of generating 150 Mega Watt of green energy in the next two to three years. The state will also set up 100 MW solar power plants across the state," the report quoted state power minister Nilesh Cabral as saying.
