1) The primary effects of earthquakes are ground shaking, ground rupture, landslides, tsunamis, and liquefaction.

2) Avoid power lines, overpasses, billboards and other structures that may fall to cause harm . Until the tremors subside, stay inside your vehicle. Similarly, if you're in a theatre or stadium, stay in your seat. Protect your head with your arms.

The damaging effects of earthquake are :

1). Human-made structure such as roads, buildings, railway tracks, bridges, dam, factories etc., get several damaged in earthquake. People can get trapped inside the collapsed and many may die.

2). Fire open breaks out following an earthquake which can be caused by sparking from electrical short-circuits.

3). Ground water pipe usually rupture, totally disrupting municipal water supply systems.

4). Tremors in in hilly areas and mountain cause landslides which can cause huge loss to life of poverty.

5). Sewer systems can burst open, releasing sewage water that causes epidemic.

Safety measures to be taken during earthquake are :

1). Move to an open area immediately.

2). If you are travelling in your car or bus do not come out. Ask the driver to drive slowly to an open area away from tall buildings trees bridges or near electrical cable.

3). Move away from building trees bridges for overhead electrical cables line or any other structures that can collapse.

1). Take shelter under table and stay there till the shaking stops
