Scientific notation is a good way to write what kinds of numbers?

Huge numbers that you would be far too lazy to write out all the zeroes for. It's really for convenience and readability.

For example...

6.0221413 xx 10^23 = 602214130000000000000000,

but we would much rather just write that in scientific notation. Who wants to count 16 zeroes?
