Before lying down, dogs circles its bed. I think there might be some social element behind the reason of doing this.

I think they circle their bed to mark their space of sleeping and making a spot in that circle.

Some dog experts said that circling sometimes was a life saving events for dogs. This sometimes helped to remove bugs and kick out snakes if found in the dog's spot of sleeping.
