There can be various reasons for a desert like Thar desert to be thirsty. The most important ones are, not source of water near the place, like rivers and lakes, this makes it scarce in water. Another reason is if the wind does not supports the region, for example, if the wind blows from the desert region to another region, so the wind takes the moisture in the desert too making it water thirsty.

because the region is very hot and all the water from our body gets out through sweat we need more water for that and there are no sources of water there.
All deserts are 'water thirsty.' That is why they are called deserts - they are arid regions that experience low rainfall. The Thar is no exception. If it received more rainfall it would cease to be a desert.
