No, there is no relationship between the body temperature of a mammal and the temperature of it’s habitat.

It is because mammals survive at hot and warm body temperature. If the body temperature lowers less than the optimum level, the mammal is about to die or it hibernates to avoid the damage done by cold or warmth. For example whales live deep inside the oceans at cool temperatures, but as they are mammals, their internal body is found to be warm because they have four chambered heart.

The two ways in which the fur becomes an adaptation to their habitat is :

-> It acts as an insulator to keep them warm from the freezing cold

-> It helps them to camouflage from their predators
