The shape is designed in such a way to reduce the friction due to air molecules and vapour state so called fluid as a whole .. The shape or designed is called as aerodynamics ..as the name mention movement of air or fluid the wings are designed to reduce the air friction also the flaps moves up and down for the movement of planes vertically and downwards.
