Scientists have studied two different types of sand lizards  Lacerta agilis and Lacerta.

  • The sand lizard Lacerta agilis and Lacerta belongs to the phylum Chordata.
  • Sand lizards mainly depend on sand dune habitats and consume various things such as flowers, insects, and spiders.
  • Sand lizards generally belong to the green lizard group and are of about 20-30 cm ( medium size ). They have a big head and short limbs with a squat neck.
  • They reproduce by laying eggs which occur in the month of May or June. These laid eggs are left buried in the sand and are exposed to the sun which helps them in the process of hatching by keeping them warm.
  • These eggs usually hatch in the months of August and September.
