Answer:

3 rs and 3.50 rs

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the fixed charges be Rs x and the charges depending upon the distance travelled be Rs y

When the person travels 12 km and paid Rs 45

x +12y = 45...(1)

When the person travels 20 km and paid Rs 73

x +20y = 73...(2)

Subtracting (1) from (2), we get

8y = 28

y = 3.50

Using value of y in (1)

x +12(3.50) = 45

x = 45 – 42

x = 3

Thus, the fixed charges are Rs 3 and the charges depending upon the distance travelled be Rs 3.50.
