According to TREWARTHA,man wasthe pivotal point from which all other elements are observed and derive their meaning and significance. Thus it's population that furnishes the focus.Population geography is concerned with understanding the regional difference in the Earth's covering of people.

According to Pokshishevskii, it is the only means to prevent population geography from eithre slipping downward to formal descriptive presentation and abstract theorising or from swallowed by the adjacent disciplines.
