Screw Gauge , Vernier caliper methods are available for the measurement of length in the case of very minute measurement of length

  • Screw Gauge & Vernier Caliper has the least count of 0.01 mm and  0.1mm respectively . Because these two have very less least count that's why these are so much Precise (Screw Gauge is more precise over Vernier caliper) and can measure even very minute lengths .
  • We can find out the L.C (least count) of the Screw Gauge by using formula

   Least Count= Pitch of Screw gauge / no. of divisions on circular scale

 L.C=  1mm/100 = 0.01mm

  • And for Vernier Caliper

Least count = Smallest reading on Main Scale/ No. of division on Vernier scale

    L.C= 1mm/10 = 0.1mm
