This question is a part if the novel called "The Tesseract" written by Alex Garland.
The novel is set against a thrilling backgrounds and everybody was unaware about the plot if the story.
It seems as it Sean is waiting for somebody or something and no body knows who might be outside then hotel room in Manila.
This arouses curiosity in us. Later, the Dion entered the hotel with there other people. it is in all the instances that the question was asked.
