Part 1:

The Largest star: ✨Stephenson 2-18✨

For many years people thought that UY Scuit was the largest star, but that is not true anymore. In fact it is not in the top ten lists for largest star. The current record holder for the largest stars is the Stephenson 2-18 or RSGC2-18.

Stephenson 2-18 is a red supergiant in the Stephenson 2 open cluster, in the constellation Scutum (which is shaped like shield) 18.900 light year away from Earth, with a size 2,150 times the sun.

Stephenson 2-18 has an estimated radius of 2,150 solar radii. If it replaced the Sun in our solar system, it would extend past the orbit of Saturn (1,940 – 2,169 R☉). The star’s size corresponds to a volume about 10 billion times greater than the Sun. The only two stars that come even close to this size are :

• MY Cephei in the constellation Cepheus with a radius 2,061 times that of the Sun.

• Stephenson 2-18 took the title of the largest star known from the previous record holders, the red supergiant WOH G64 in the constellation Dorado and UY Scuti in Scutum.

WOH G64 has an estimated radius between 1,540 and 1,730 solar radii, which is considerably smaller than both St2-18 and the current runner-up, MY Cephei (2,061 R☉).

Since i love astronomy i watch some channel which are connected with astronomy and i notice that most of the time people don't make research which is bad because if i post something saying that UY Scuit is the largest it will spread wrong or misconception so i did my researcher and
