SEBI is regular authority set up by the government of India that regulates thr security market. it was established in 1988 and given a statutory status in 1992, to protect the investors from the fraudulent malpractice, rampant in security market before 1988. as a Watchdog it regulate the market and protects the investors by keeping a check on various malupulative activities. so SEBI is known as Watchdog of securities market .
