sec a - tan a = 1/x ....(2)

add 1 and 2

2 seca = x + 1/x

seca \:  =   \frac{ { x}^{2}  + 1}{2x}

subtract 1 and 2

2tana = x - 1/x

tana \:  =  \frac{ {x}^{2}  - 1}{2x}

cos \: a \:  =  \frac{1}{seca}

cos \: a \:  =  \frac{2x}{  { x}^{2} + 1 }
