given that sec+tan=x

we know that

${sec}^{2} - {tan}^{2} = 1$

${a}^{2} - {b}^{2} = (a + b)(a - b)$

now,(sec+tan)(sec-tan)=1

x(sec-tan)=1

sec-tan=1/x

therefore ur ans is 1/x
