Step-by-step explanation:

(I'm using 'a' instead of theta bcoz I can't find the character on my keyboard)

you might would have studied the identity,

sec²a= 1 + tan²a ( identity )

sec(a) = √(1+tan²a)

if you want the identity derivation too then,

tan²a + 1 = perpendicular²/ base² + 1

= p² / b² + b²/b²

= (p²+b²)/b²

= h² / b²

= (h/b)² which is equal to tan²a as tan(a) = h/b

thus, tan²a+1=sec²a

thank you
