The Carnatic Wars refers to a series of military conflicts between the British East India Company and French East India Company along with the role played by the Nawab of Carnatic and the Nizam of Hyderabad. Three wars were fought between 1745 and 1763.
The cause of the second Carnatic War was the interference of the English and the French in politics of the native rulers with a view to enhancing their political power and area of influence. It is also called the Siege of Arcot, in which the British won. After this, many battles were fought and Chanda Sahib was killed in one of them. Muhammad Ali was installed as the Nawab of the Carnatic. The war ended with the Treaty of Pondicherry in 1754 and it is said to have brought laurels to the British as they won it.
