Answer:

Posterior Pituitary secretions are obtained from the Neuro-secretory axons of nerves.

The nerves involved originates from Supra-Optic and Para-ventricular Nuclei of the Hypothalamus.

The major secretions from Posterior Pituitary are as follows :

  • Vasopressin
  • Oxytocin

Functions are as follows :

Vasopressin is responsible for prevention of diuresis ( excessive urination). It helps in water conservation in the body and hence maintains the Blood Pressure and Plasma volume of the body.

Oxytocin helps in Milk ejection from lactating mothers. It also helps in child birth during labour.
