Section A (Assertion and Reason Type Questions)
rections (Q. No i to 5). Two statements are given on labeld Assertion (A) and the other labelled Reason (R). Select
the correct answer to these questions from the codes 1. I1, mi and IV as given below:
1. Both and Rare true and R is correct explanation of the assertion
Both and Rare true but Ris not the correct Explanation of the assertion
III. A is true but Ris false
IV. Both A and Rare false
1. Assertion : Sound is louder on moon than on earth.
Reason: Light is a mechanical wave.
2. Assertion: The value of acceleration due to gravity is least on equator
Reason: The value of quantity G in law of gravitation depends on radius of earth only
3. Assertion Work stored in a dam possesses potential energy.
Reason: Energy possessed by an object by the virtue of its position is called Potential enengy.
4. Assertion. The function of mud guards is based on inertia of direction
Reason: Inertia of direction vs. the inability of a body to change by itself, its state of motion
5. Assertion : Note is a musical sound of specific frequency.
Reason: Rhonoceroses can produce and hear sound in the ultrasonic range.

Answer:

1 --> IV

2 -->III

3 --> I

4 --> III

5 -->IV

Explanation:

Hey friend, this is my explanation. I hope you like it

1. As moon does not have an atmosphere, and sound cannot travel without a medium and thus sound cannot travel on moon.

Light is not a mechanical wave, it's an electromagnetic wave.

2. The radius of earth is greater on equator than on poles, and the value of Acceleration due to gravity is inversely proportional to the square of the radius of earth, hence if radius is more then value of acceleration due to gravity is less and vice versa. Hence value of acceleration due to gravity is least on equator.

G is the Universal Gravitational constant, which depends on mass of objects and distance between them.

3. The work done to keep water at the height in the dam gets stored in the form of potential energy, as potential energy depends on height(position) and configuration of object.

Potential energy depends on the position, (as well as configuration) of object.

4.The function of mud guards is to protect the cyclist/ car etc. from the Tangential throw of mud, which is due to the inertia of direction of vehicle.

Inertia of direction is the ability of body to resist a change in its direction of motion.

5.Note is a musical tone having various frequencies.

Rhinoceros can hear and produce sounds in the infrasonic range
