(a) PbO+C-→ Pb + CO.
(b) MnO2 + 4HC1 —— MnCl2 + 2H2O + Cl2.

( From PbO to Pb ) . 2. C is oxidised (From C to CO2 ) . In the reaction MnO2 + 4HCl -> MnCl2 + Cl2 + 2H2O , Cl (chlorine) is the substance which is oxidized from the HCl, and it is the reducing agent for the MnO2 as well.
