SECTION II
A. Give reasons for the following.
1. Petroleum gas can be compressed.
2. Soft drinks are cooled by placing them in ice rather than water at 0°C.
3. Burns caused by steam are more serious than burns caused by boiling water
4. The temperature of a liquid remains constant at boiling point when changing into vapour.
5. In the graph, the curve for melting/freezing remains horizontal to x-axis during change of
phase although heat is absorbed.

1. Petroleum gas can be compressed because the particles present in that very loosely packed which makes it easy to compress.

2. when ice melts it absorbs thermal energy from surrounding medium due to latent heat of fusion.

3. Even at the same temperature the bubbling (boiling) water produces less severe burns than steam. This is because steam contains the heat energy of boiling water (as steam is formed from boiling water) along with latent heat of vaporisation.

4. The temperature remains constant during boiling of water even though heat is supplied constantly because all the heat energy provided is used up in changing the state of water from liquid to gaseous water vapour.

I hope it help you..

I don't know about last one sorry
