This fatal likeness even dogged Our close resemblance turned the tide
My footsteps, when at school, Of my domestic life,
And I was always getting flogged, For somehow, my intended bride
For John turned out a fool.
Became my brother's wife,
I put this question, fruitlessly
In fact year after year the same
To everyone I knew,
Absurd mistakes went on,
What would you do, if you were me. And when I died, the neighbours came
To prove that you were you?'
And buried brother John.
