By law of conservation of momentum,

Total momentum before collision= Total momentum after collision

Then total momentum = m1v1 * m2v2
=1.5*5 + 5*0
=7.5 kg ms-1.

Then total momentum of system after collision = 7.5

(m1+m2)*v = 7.5
1.5+5 * v =7.5
6.5 * v = 7.5
v = 7.5/6.5 ms-1
v = 1.15 ms-1.
