(i) The following are the differences between anthracite and lignite (Grading) :

1) Anthracite is the coal of highest grade whereas Lignite is the lowest grade coal.

2) Anthracite is hard, brittle and black in colour whereas Lignite is more like soil and brownish black in colour.

(ii) 1)Anthracite coal is the best one containing the highest percent of carbon in it. It has around 92-98% carbon content.

2)Lignite is brownish-black in color and has roughly 60-70 percent carbon content, often as much as 75 percent intrinsic moisture content, and 6-19 percent ash content.
