  • From the figure it's clear that,
  • a compound wire is thicker at point O than the other end of the wire.
  • we have a formula for current,
  • I = V/R
  • implies that, the current is inversely proportional to the resistance.
  • And we even know that,
  • the thicker the wire, higher is the current for a given voltage and hence the lower resistance.
  • Hence, the resistance increases as the distance increase from point "O" till the other end of the compound wire.
