It is given that a pole is 3m high and that the length of its shadow is 3.6m. Using trigonometric ratio (tan), find the angle of elevation.

Also another pole at a same time has a shadow of 54m. Since it is at the same time as that of the previous shadow formation, angle of elevation is equal.

Here, using angle of elevation and the trigonometric ratio (tan), we can find the height of the second pole.


Also there is another method. Since both the poles form the shadow at the same time, their trigonometric ratios are equal and thus they are in the same ratio. Equating them will give you the length of the second pole.
