  • Mahatma Gandhi returned the title of Kaiser-i-Hind and all the war medals which were awarded to him by the British rulers. I

  • The Kaiser - I - Hindedal was an award given for public service in India by Emperor of India between 1900 and 1947.

  • Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, generally known as Mahatma Gandhi. He was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat.

  • He was the main leader of the Indian independence movement against British rule. He was also known as Bapu and "Father of the Nation".

  • Gandhi was awarded the 'Kaiser-i-Hind' and other medals by the British for his work. Kaiser-I-Hind was awarded in 1915 by The Lord Hardinge of Penshurst for his contribution to services in South Africa. But he returned it in 1920.
