The seeds present in fleshy fruits are often eaten up by animals along with the fruit. The seed is resistant to digestive enzymes so it travels down the alimentary canal and exits along with other undigested food items. This helps the seed to move away from the original plant and take proper place for germination. This helps the plant to maintain its species.
