Not every plant grows from a seed. Some plants, like ferns and mosses, grow from spores. Other plants use asexual vegetative reproduction and grow new plants from rhizomes or tubers. We can also use techniques like grafting or take cuttings to make new plants.

Seeds are not the only means of reproduction in plants. Several plants around us are formed by natural or artificial vegetative propagation. Examples are cutting of rose, grafting of mango, leaf budding in Bryophyllum, offsets in Eichornia, runners in grasses etc. Plants can also be formed by apomixis.
