Given :-

  • Seema has a total of Rs.235 as currency notes in the
  • denominations of Rs.50,Rs.10 and Rs.5.
  • The ratio of the number of Rs.50 notes and Rs.10 notes is 3:5.
  • she has a total of 15 notes.

To find :-

  • How many Rs. 5 notes does she have ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, seema has 3x notes of Rs.50 and 5x notes of Rs.10 .

Than,

→ Rs. 5 notes = 15 - (3x + 5x) = (15 - 8x) .

So,

Total value of Rs.50 notes = 50 * 3x = Rs.150x .

→ Total value of Rs.10 notes = 10 * 5x = Rs.50x .

→ Total value of Rs.5 notes = 5(15 - 8x) = Rs.(75 - 40x).

we have given that, total value of all notes is Rs.235 .

Therefore,

150x + 50x + (75 - 40x) = 235

→ 200x + 75 - 40x = 235

→ 160x = 235 - 75

→ 160x = 160

x = 1.

Hence,

Rs. 5 notes = (15 - 8x) = 15 - 8*1 = 15 - 8 = 7 Notes .(Ans.)

Seema has 7 notes of Rs.5 .
