Concept:-

Here, We have to find the cost of floor mat for the kitchen at the rate of ₹20/foot². So, we will find the area of floor which have to cover with mat and then multiply with the rate of mat to get the real cost.

Given:-

  • Rate of floor mat that is ₹20/foot².
  • Dimension of floor which have to cover.

Solution:-

Here, first dimension of first rectangle = (7-2) feet and 2 feet = 5 feet and 2 feet.

Now, Area of first rectangle = Length × Breadth

                                       = 5 feet × 2 feet

                                       = 10 feet²

∵ Dimension of second rectangle = 9 feet and 2 feet.

So, Area of second rectangle = Length × Breadth

                                                 = 9 feet × 2 feet

                                                 = 18 feet²

Cost of floor mat = (sum of area of both rectangles × Rate of floor mat)

                               = [(18 + 10) feet² × ₹20/foot²]

                               = ₹(28 × 20)

                               = ₹560

Hence, Cost of floor mat = ₹560.
