Number of chocolates seeta had initially = 12

Given :

  • Seeta and Rashmi have chocolate in the ratio 3 : 2

  • If Seeta gives 2 chocolate to Rashmi , both of them will have equal number of chocolates

To find :

The number of chocolates Seeta had initially

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Here it is given that Seeta and Rashmi have chocolate in the ratio 3 : 2

Let the number of chocolates Seeta and Rashmi had 3x and 2x respectively

If Seeta gives 2 chocolate to Rashmi , both of them will have equal number of chocolates

Then ,

Number of chocolates of Seeta = 3x - 2

Number of chocolates of Rashmi = 2x + 2

By the given condition

3x - 2 = 2x + 2

Step 2 of 2 :

Find number of chocolates Seeta had initially

3x - 2 = 2x + 2

⇒ 3x - 2x = 2 + 2

⇒ x = 4

Initially number of chocolates of Seeta = 3 × 4 = 12

Initially number of chocolates of Rashmi = 2 × 4 = 8

Hence number of chocolates Seeta had initially is 12
