Given : Segment Line segment X Y is dilated using a scale factor of Two-thirds through P.

To Find : Which segment shows the correct result of the dilation

Solution:

Distance PY = 4 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 12

Line segment X Y is dilated using a scale factor of Two-thirds through P

Hence ( 2/3) 12

= 8

4 + 2 + 2 = 8

Line c  segment shows the correct result of the dilation

Line a is at 4

Line b is at 6

Line c is at 8

Line d is at 10
