Answer:

Water in the Pacific Ocean has more thermal energy and a lower temperature.

This is because Pacific Ocean contains more molecules which means it has more kinetic energy which creates more thermal energy.

Since coffee has less number of molecules, the molecules will move faster and its temperature will be higher.

Water in the pacific ocean has more thermal energy and a lower temperature. (option D)

• The water volume of the whole pacific ocean is much more greater than the volume of the coffee in a cup.

• Now,due to the much more greater volume, the water of the whole pacific ocean will obviously contain much more thermal energy than the total thermal energy of one cup of hot coffee.

• But,the temperature of the pacific ocean is lower than the one cup of hot coffee.Because, the thermal energy in the coffee is condensed in a small volume and that's why the temperature is higher in a single point.

• But the huge amount of thermal energy of the pacific ocean is distributed in a very large volume and that's why the temperature of the water of the pacific ocean is comparatively lower in a single point.
