• After the 1824 elections, there was a split in the Democratic-Republican Party and it got divided into two different parties. One was led by Andrew Jackson and it was the National Republicans and the other was the Democratic Party whose leader was John Quincy Adams.
• In the elections their votes did not have a huge gap, the elections were done by the house of representatives wherein President Clay showed his favourable support towards John Adams as he was of a nationalist perspective in comparison to Andrew's western perspective.
• Andrew's supporters had shown they are disheartened by claiming that this presidential election was a corrupt bargain between Adams and Clay.
• One impact on the economy during his tenure was protective tariffs as he raised tariffs on several things like wool, iron and cotton. Duties were imposed to protect the cotton mills of the economy.
