1.Here it given that

\mathbf{3X+1&lt; 7}

\mathbf{3X&lt; 7-1}

\mathbf{3X&lt; 6}

\mathbf{X&lt; \frac{6}{3}}

So

\mathbf{X&lt; 2}         ...1)

2.Means

X is less than 2

If we draw a line of X= 2 , which is perpendicular to x-axis and parallel to y-axis.

3. On checking point origin (0,0) on equation 1), which give

\mathbf{0&lt; 2}    ...2)

Above equation 2) is correct. From equation 2) ,it is clear that origin lie on left side of line X=2.

3.So region is on left side of line X=2.

Here line X=2 is shown by dashed line because it is not equal to 2.
