Answer:

Name of the story- Arjuna and the bird eye

Pandavas and Kauravas were the prince of Hastinapur.Pandavas were five brothers and Kauravas were hundred in number.

As a kid, they all were learning archery and War skills under a great sage Dronacharya.

Pandavas and kauravas were very talented and strong. One day their teacher Dronacharya organised a competition to test their skills.

He kept a small wooden bird on a tree at a distance. Then he asked all the kids one by one to shoot the wooden bird’s eye.

First he called the Yudhishthira, who was the eldest among Pandavas. Dronacharya asked Yudhishthira, “What do you see? “

Yudhishthira took his position to shoot and then he replied that he can see bird, leaves, branches, fruits, sky, etc. Yudhishthira mentioned all the things which he could see through his eyes.

Dronacharya, asked Yudhishthira, to put down his bow, and leave.

After that Dronacharya asked Duryodhana, who was the eldest among Kauravas. He asked Duryodhana, “What do you see?”

Duryodhana replied that, he can see the bird, trees, branches, leaves, other birds, etc.

Dronacharya asked Duryodhana to put down his bow and leave.

After that Dronacharya asked other kids to come and every time he asked the same question.

All kids replied what all they could see.

At last Dronacharya asked Arjuna to come. Arjuna was the third Pandava brother. He was a great archer.

When Dronacharya asked him, what does he see? Arjuna said “He can only see the bird’s eye”.

Dronacharya said, there are several things near the bird, can’t you see other things?

Arjuna was staring at the bird’s eye; he said “No teacher, I can’t see anything other than bird’s eye”.

Dronacharya got happy with Arjuna’s response. He asked him to shoot.

The arrow sprang from the bow and went straight into the bird’s eye. It was a sharp shot. The bird knocked down on to the ground. All the kids looked on in amazement at Arjuna.

Dronacharya praised Arjuna for his archery skills and concentration.
