  • The flowers of pea plant are bisexual.

  • Because of this bisexual character, they can peform self pollination and hence self and cross pollination can easily be performed. 

  • The pea plant have various of physical characteristics which were easy to recognise and study.

  • Also these plants were easier to maintain and have short life span.

  • Large number of offsprings are produced by pea plants which allowed Sir Mandel to study large number of plants in less time.
