A selectively membrane can be defined as the membrane which allows certain minerals and ions to pass through it. The process osmosis occurs through this membrane in which the minerals are absorbed from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration or via diffusion. This layer allow the transpiration of oxygen and as well as carbon-dioxide but however the polar molecules cannot enter easily through the lipid bilayer.
