Answer:

Self-consciousness is a defining property of life.

Explanation:

Self-consciousness is defined as an ability sense about their surroundings or environmental stimuli which can be physical, chemical or biological. Organisms are able to sense about the environment with the help of sensory organs. The presence of complex to simple sensory system depends on various characteristics of any organism. Plants are able to respond towards light, water, temperature, other organisms, and pollutants. All organisms from prokaryotes to the most complex eukaryotes have ability to respond to the environment. Therefore, consciousness becomes the defining property of living organisms. But coma is a state of unconsciousness where a person is unable to respond against the stimuli. Some coma patients are required to be kept at ventilator because they cannot breathe on their own and they need to be kept alive. The brain dead condition in organisms will not have self-consciousness. In such condition, it is difficult to define living or nonliving.

Answer:

Explanation:

Self consciousness is undoubtedly a defining property of each person's life. It refers to a condition when an individual is aware of his or her surroundings and can immediately sense any chemical, physical or biological changes in it.

Just like animals have extra-active sense organs to sense their surroundings, humans can also attain the same property with self consciousness.
