Let the tension in the string be T....now,when,the block will move upward then there will be a pseudo accleration which will be just opposite to the acceleration of the whole block...

so,total force acting downward on first =2g+2g/2

total force acting upward on second block=4g+4g/2

now,

if mass of 4g is acelrating downward than

(4g+2g)-T=4×a

6g-T=4a.......i)

for second block..

T-(2g +2g/2)=2a

t-3g=2a.....ii)

adding both we get

3g=6a

g=2a

a=g/2

putting this value of a in ii) we get

t=2×g/2+3g

t=g+3g

T=4g=40

Hence tension in the string will be 40N

Hence option a)✓✓✓

hope it helps you
