separating two componets of mixture by sedimentation & decantation
Answers
Answer:
Sand and water can be separated by any of the following two methods: (a) Sedimentation and decantation: Mixture is kept undisturbed for some time. After some time, sand being heavier and insoluble in water, settles down at the bottom of container. Now, water is poured into another container to separate it from sand.
"To settle down of heavier substances present in the liquid mixture could be separating by sedimentation & decantation"
Explanation:
Sedimentation - Settle (The process of forming or depositing)
Decantation - To draw off (without disturbing of sediment or lower liquid layer)
Types of mixture :
- Oil and water
- To purify impure water
- vinegar and oil
- Milk and cream
For example, Consider two components are Sand and liquid as Water. Ready to mixture the two components like sand and water in container.the container is kept undisturbed for few minutes. After few minutes the mixture are separated. sand is heavier than water because in insoluble substance. The heavier component of sand is settle on the bottom of container, due to gravity. The decent component of water will float on top of the container. we can separate the water into another container
Finally, Sand and Water mixture are separated by the process of sedimentation and decantation
