Answer :-

Setting up the equation -

Let the number of notebooks be x

Now, it is given that, Munna subtracts thrice the number of notebooks from 50.

This means that 3 times number of notebooks i.e. 3x is subtracted from 50 -

= 50 - 3x

Now, the result obtained is 8.

So, the equation will be :-

⇒ 50 - 3x = 8

Solving the equation :-

⇒ 50 - 3x = 8

Transposing 3x on the RHS side and 8 on the RHS side :-

⇒ 50 - 8 = 3x

⇒ 3x = 42

⇒ x = 42 / 3

⇒ x = 14

Number of notebooks = 14
