Question:-

Set up equation and solve this when three consecutive numbers are added,the sum is 21.Find the numbers.

Solution:-

Given:-

  • Sum of 3 consecutive numbers = 21

To find:-

  • Numbers = ?

Let the numbers be a, a + 1 & a + 2.

ATQ:-

⇒ a + (a + 1) + (a + 2) = 21

⇒a + a + 1 + a + 2 = 21

⇒ 3a + 3 = 21

⇒ 3a = 21 - 3

⇒ 3a = 18

⇒ a = 18/3

⇒ a = 6

\rule{100}{2}

➜ 1st number = a = 6

➜ 2nd number = a + 1 = 6 + 1 = 7

➜ 3rd number = a + 2 = 6 + 2 = 8

\therefore{\underline{\rm{Consecutive \: numbers = 6\: ,7 \: \& \: 8 \: }}}
