Step-by-step explanation:

let the number shila thinks be X

5/2 of the number=(5/2)X

she takes away 6 from (5/2)X = 4

so (5/2)X-6=4

or (5X-12) = 8

or 5X=12+8=20

or X= 4

b) sum of 3 times X and 10 is 14 means

either 3 times of(X and 10) or (3 times of X) and 10

i.e either 3 (X+10) or (3X)+10

so 3 (X+10)=14 or 3X+10=14

so 3X+30=14 or 3X=14-10

so 3X=14-30= -16 or 3X=4

so X=(-16/3) or X=(4/3)

so you have to check properly..

if in the question it is mention that sheela think a natural number then X=4/3 is right.

so you have to discuss with your teacher
