Setting of place of the short story is at pontoon bridge across the Ebro river. The bridge is a symbol which has two sides, that is, war and peace or death and life. One side is the old man, who walked twelve kilometres from his hometown San Carlos and he said that he can not go any further.
❤Hope it helps❤

Answer:

Old man at the Bridge is set in a war zone at pontoon bridge across The Ebroo river during Spanish civil War on an Easter Sunday.

Explanation:

Scenes take place in a typical war zone, with gray atmostphere and 'Ankle deep dust'.

Hemingway is has sucessfully captured the true picture of war and its effects, without single shot being fired or a drop of blood being spilled in this story.
