Seven friends h, i, j, k, l, m and n are seated in a straight line, but not necessarily in the same order. some of them are facing north while some are facing south. k sits third to the left of i. neither i nor k sits at any of the extreme ends of the line. only three people sit between k and m. j sits second to the right of m. h sits to the immediate left of n. n who faces south is not an immediate neighbour of k. both the immediate neighbours of l face south. both the immediate neighbours of k face a direction opposite to n ﴾i.e. if n faces north then both the immediate neighbours of k face south and vice‐versa. what of the following is true with respect to l ?

Answer:

In respect of I, when I face south, L and H face south and vice versa.

Explanation:

We know,

  • K and I are not seated at the extreme ends but K sits left to the third of I. Hence, I face south and K faces north.
  • J sits second to the right of M, hence M and J, are both facing north.
  • H sits immediate left of N, N faces North and H faces south.

Hence the sitting arrangement becomes M,I,J,L,K,H,N.
