Answer:

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals be awarded in 120 ways

Step-by-step explanation:

Given Data:

7 runners are competing in a race so there are 3 gold 2 silver 1 bronze.

Need to find the number of ways all the three medals can be awarded.

Step 1:

Number of ways = 6P3 = 6 x 5 x 4 =120

Number of ways by which gold can be awarded = 6

Step 2:

Number of ways by which silver can be awarded = 5 (except the who got gold)

Step 3:

Number of ways by which gold can be awarded = 4 (except the who got gold or silver)

Step 4:

Total ways = 6 x 5 x 4 = 120
