Answer:

r=30

Step-by-step explanation:

take ram's age as r and shaym's as s

by first information we get

r+7=2(s+7)

=> r=2s+14

by second information we get

2/5( r-5)=(s-5)-1

=> 2r=5s-20

solving both of them

Answer:

Ram's present age is  45 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Ram's mother's age be 'x' years and Shyam's age be 'y' years.

7 years from now, Ram's age = x + 7 and Shyam's age = y + 7

According to the question, after 7 years,

(x + 7) = 2 (y + 7)

x + 7 = 2y + 14

x - 2y = 14 - 7

x - 2y = 7  ...(i)

5 years ago, Ram's age = x - 5 and Shyam's age = y - 5

According to the question,  5 years ago,

y - 5    = [(x - 5) * 2/5 ]  - 1

y - 5 = [(2x - 10)/5]  - 1

y - 5 = (2x - 10 - 5) / 5

5y - 20 = 2x - 15

-2x + 5y = -15 + 20

-2x + 5y = 5  ...(ii)

Multiplying 2 to equation (i),

2x - 4y = 14 ...(iii)

Adding (ii) and (iii),

-2x + 2x + 5y - 4y = 5 + 14

y = 19

Using y = 19 in (i),

x - 2y = 7

x - (2 * 19) = 7

x - 38 = 7

x = 7 + 38

x = 45

Ram's present age is 45 years.
